Just like someone having a much-needed organ transplant, most of us need an attitude transplant as well! Just like a failing organ can become toxic to our bodies, so can our very own negative words. The number one step is to make the decision to change the way you talk. Watch what you say and when you do say something negative, be sure to take it back and reverse what you said with positive words. Next it is pertinent that we find “donors” (others with positive attitudes) to encourage our words and actions because being around negative people will only bring you down. It is so much easier to complain and bicker about things than to get up and make a change. Be aware, the change will most likely come with struggles. Those people who are normally negative may not know how to speak around you anymore and may become more distant and uncomfortable. I believe this is God’s way of weeding out that negativity in your life, so to speak. After all, a room can’t stay dark when there is light in the room. Yep, that is what you are becoming…A LIGHT! Don’t be afraid to keep shining, it will benefit you greatly in the long run. No doubt you may lose friends, but as the saying goes “out with the old, in with the new!” As old friends may be put off by your cheery disposition, you may find that upbeat people will seemingly be drawn to you… as you to them. And, just maybe your happiness will become contagious and the old friends will start to change too. Just as an organ transplant recipient will need anti-rejection medications…you will need to continue to have your daily dose of motivation. You can do that by reading scripture or other positive books and listening to motivational speakers. Then the choice is up to you on how you go about your day. When you wake up, before you even step out of bed… smile and be thankful that you woke up and take some time to pray or meditate on some positive words to start out your day. Your day will be happier for it and you will begin to see a new you! Just remember your circumstance will only be as bad as you allow it to be! Choose happiness and be blessed.
Here are some of my own creations to encourage a positive attitude!
